Bloomberg Terminal gains conversational AI interface

Bloomberg has introduced a conversational AI interface, ASKB, into the Bloomberg Terminal.

Shawn Edwards, chief technology officer, commented, “Early feedback from beta clients shows ASKB is driving efficiency, improving discovery, and helping users surface actionable insights at speed.”

ASKB is built from a network of AI agents and uses multiple commercial and open-weight large language models.

The service is designed to enhance research and insight generation on the Terminal. Clients can query the interface using everyday language, accessing structured and unstructured data, documents, news, research and analytics from Bloomberg’s content library. USers’ proprietary documents can also be uploaded to the system and analysed alongside this content.

Responses including data analysis are accompanied by Bloomberg Query Language (BQL) code, which can be used in Excel, BQuant Desktop and BQuant Enterprise. ASKB can also generate annotated data visualisations.

Users are also able to input multi-step activities into the service, which will produce a structured output. Workflows can be saved, re-run and shared across a firm.
