EM Rates electronification accelerates despite structural challenges.

Emerging market rates electronification is accelerating, despite ongoing challenges linked to market fragmentation, data inconsistencies, and price discovery in over-the-counter (OTC) markets, says Vikas Gupta, head of Asia Currencies and emerging markets, and Cynthia Sin Win, head of APAC e-FICC sales at J.P. Morgan Chase. Speaking to Trader TV, the J.P. Morgan executives say that 50% of the bank’s EM rates trading volume is now executed electronically, with hedge funds leading adoption, and AI, data analytics, and automation are playing key roles in driving progress.
