Duffy steps down at CME Group

CME Group’s CEO Terry Duffy is taking a backseat at the company, taking an executive chairman role effective March 2027.

Lynne Fitzpatrick, currently president and chief financial officer, will take the reins.

Duffy has been CEO for the last decade, and has been at CME Group since 1980.

He has been a vocal opponent of rival exchange FMX over recent years as the two seek to gain control over US Treasuries and Treasury futures.

Fitzpatrick has been chief financial officer since 2023, and was named president in 2024. She joined CME Group in 2006, before which she was an associate director at UBS Investment Bank and an associate at Credit Suisse.
