S&P Global has launched a chatbot on its S&P Capital IQ Pro market intelligence platform in an effort to simplify the credit risk research and analysis process.

CreditCompanion uses natural language processing, large language models and a retrieval augmented generator to gather and summarise data from S&P Global Ratings’ research. Users can send both structured and unstructured queries and receive insights, comparisons, and explanations of results.

Whit McGraw, head of risk and valuations services at S&P Global Market Intelligence, commented: “CreditCompanion was designed to complement and enhance current credit analysis workflows, allowing users to quickly access and use S&P Global Ratings proprietary credit ratings and research content in a more efficient and meaningful way.”

The application facilitates faster strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) analysis, S&P stated, allowing users to create comparative credit risk analyses between firms.

McGraw noted: “It is a critical priority for S&P Global to enhance and drive efficiency in the workflows of our clients through AI.”
