Ultra-low latency and circuit and network solutions provider LDA Technologies has launched a tool to synchronise market data distribution in an effort to democratise exchange access.
LDA’s multicast distribution system aligns customer data ports, provided by exchanges, within 50 picoseconds, it says.
While exchanges are expected to provide fair access to all users, infrastructure switches cause delays – or ‘jitters’ – of between three and five nanoseconds between ports, LDA explains. Layer 1 switches deliver an exchange’s entire datastream to every client. Level 3 switches provide specific data, but add significant latency to operations.
Currently, solutions to latency issues tend to orient around making physical changes to the systems, such as extending cable lengths.
Akin to Level 3 switches, LDA’s multicast distribution system only delivers data matching a client’s subscription. However, jitters measure as low as 50 picoseconds between ports, and the process is 98% faster than Layer 1 switches.
Vahan Sardaryan, LDA co-founder and CEO, commented: “Exchanges are increasingly looking for ways to provide a uniform level of service to clients, and now they can deliver on that promise.”
