Hiroshi Minoura has been promoted to chairman of investment banking for Japan.

In the role, Minoura is responsible for the business’s operations and alignment with global priorities.

Barclays has stated that Japan is a key market for its global investment banking business amid low interest rates, a weaker yen and corporate governance reforms. Outbound cross-border mergers and acquisitions are also on the rise, it noted.
