Moritz Westhoff joins Nomura as head of US rates trading, based in New York and reporting to global co-heads of rates Nat Tyce and Tetsuya Hiraoka.

Westhoff joins from Bank of America, where he spent seven years running US and Canadian linear-rates trading, and eight years before that on Goldman Sachs’s US government-bond desk as an executive director.

Announcing the move, Tyce said the US rates unit “is a core component of our platform and an area where we see significant potential for growth,”

He added that Westhoff’s experience would help the bank meet its strategic goals.
The hire follows Nomura’s appointments of Hemish Shah as head of EMEA flow rates in March 2024 and Wataru Nishino as head of Japan rates trading a month later.
