Anthropic announced Claude Finance on 15 July, describing it as a version of its large‑language‑model platform tailored for finance‑sector research, modeling and compliance work.
Aaron Linsky, CTO at Bridgewater’s AIA labs said, “We’ve been developing capabilities powered by Claude since 2023 within AIA Labs. Claude powered the first versions of our Investment Analyst Assistant, which streamlined our analysts’ workflow by generating Python code, creating data visualizations and iterating through complex financial analysis tasks.”
At the end of 2024, Bridgewater had US$92 billion under management down 18% year on year after redemptions from its Alpha Fund.
According to the company, it already connects to Snowflake, Databricks and other financial data sources such as S&P Global, FactSet, PitchBook, Morningstar and Box; The pro service is bundled with Claude 4 models, Claude Code and pre‑built connectors so users can run code, query data and view documents in one place. Anthropic states that customer data is not used to train its models.
Anthropic also said Claude Opus 4 passed five of seven tasks in the financial modelling world cup with 83 % accuracy and that Vals AI’s finance agent benchmark placed Claude 4 ahead of other large‑language‑model systems.
The company says the product is available through AWS Marketplace and will appear on Google Cloud Marketplace in the near future.
A conclave of financial giants joined in the launch press release:
Nicolai Tangen, CEO of Norges Bank Investment Management, the largest sovereign wealth fund in the world with nearly US$2 trillion under management stated, “With Claude, we estimate that we have achieved approximately 20 % productivity gains—equivalent to 213,000 hours. Our portfolio managers and risk department can now query our Snowflake data warehouse and analyze earnings calls with greater efficiency.”
As per its 2024 annual report it had 703 employees worldwide.
Peter Zaffino, CEO at AIG, went further and declared, “Our partnership with Anthropic will fundamentally transform how we approach underwriting at scale. With the incorporation of Claude’s advanced capabilities into our underwriting process, we have been able to compress the timeline to review business by more than 5x in our early rollouts while simultaneously improving our data accuracy from 75% to over 90%.”
AIG’s net premium written were US$23.9 billion in 2024, up 6% year on year.
In a live demo, Anthropic showcased its new offering with the analysis of a pretend stock, with Claude giving a would-be PM the nudge to fade a stock, after having gone through comprehensive data analysis, and the creation of a full discounted cash flow model claiming to have saved more than four hours of analyst work.
