Wayne Barber has been promoted to junior fixed income trader at Janus Henderson Investors.

Barber has been a data analyst at the firm since May 2022, before which he was a software engineer at Accenture.

Earlier this year, Janus Henderson’s global head of trading Andy Munro told The DESK that employees with a data background are moving into trading roles as the capacity to use data effectively in bond trading increases.

“Having that skill set on the desk means we can self-build tools that we want, and the PMs can rely on those for their market timing and colour, helping to guide them when they want to make strategy calls. Those team members with big data and visualisation skills are invaluable to us,” he said.
